Security Alert Forces Newark Return of United Flight to Spain

by admin477351

A United Airlines flight bound for Palma de Mallorca, Spain, had to return to Newark Liberty International Airport after a potential security issue emerged mid-flight. Originally departing Saturday evening, the Boeing 767 was carrying 190 passengers and 12 crew members when it was decided that the plane should turn back for precautionary reasons.

The situation arose due to concerns over a Bluetooth device detected on board. Throughout the flight, crew members repeatedly requested that passengers switch off any Bluetooth-enabled devices as a safety measure. Upon the aircraft’s safe return to Newark, law enforcement and security teams conducted a thorough inspection of the plane to ensure no threats were present.

Once the United Airlines flight landed, all passengers disembarked, and a security sweep of the aircraft was conducted. Travelers were subsequently re-screened by airport security before being allowed to resume their journey. Although United Airlines did not disclose specific details about the security concern, the airline confirmed that a substitute aircraft and crew were organized to complete the trip.

The replacement flight departed early Sunday morning, enabling passengers to arrive safely in Palma de Mallorca later the same day. This incident adds to a series of operational and security-related events involving United Airlines in recent weeks, underscoring the company’s commitment to precautionary measures when potential safety issues arise.
