Meta Introduces Camera-Free Smart Glasses to Address Privacy Concerns

by admin477351

Meta has launched a new series of AI-powered wearable devices, including a notable entry: camera-free smart glasses. This latest innovation addresses the increasing privacy concerns associated with wearable technology, as these glasses focus solely on audio capabilities. Priced at $349, they will be available starting October 13.

The introduction of camera-free smart glasses marks a departure from Meta’s previous models, which included built-in cameras for capturing photos and videos. Despite the absence of cameras in this new offering, Meta emphasizes that privacy features, such as a visible recording indicator on models equipped with cameras, remain a priority in their product development.

In addition to the camera-free model, Meta announced new smart glasses featuring display capabilities. These models will be priced starting at $799 and are slated for expansion into more international markets. Furthermore, Meta unveiled lighter mixed-reality glasses that incorporate an external battery and memory pack, with an expected launch in spring 2027 at a starting price of $1,299.

Meta also introduced Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant designed to enhance user experience by performing tasks such as booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with various services. The company envisions both AI glasses and Muse as integral components of its broader consumer AI strategy.
