Indonesia and Serbia have committed to strengthening their bilateral relations through enhanced cooperation in trade, industrial development, and food and energy security. This decision was made during the fifth Bilateral Consultation Forum held in Jakarta, where both nations explored various avenues for collaboration.

One of the key areas of interest includes mineral exploration and processing, particularly focusing on nickel and the supply chains for electric vehicles. Additionally, the countries are looking into opportunities within emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, data centers, semiconductors, and digital transformation.

Trade between Indonesia and Serbia has shown promising growth, averaging an annual increase of 20.62% from 2021 to 2025, with projections reaching $53.6 million in 2025. In light of this growth, the two countries are considering a free trade agreement and plan to establish a joint economic commission. This initiative aims to expand trade and enhance access to markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

Discussions during the forum also touched on investment opportunities, industrial production, and employment cooperation. A notable point of agreement was the exploration of government-to-government arrangements to enhance the legal protection of Indonesian migrant workers in Serbia.

Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity. Looking ahead, they agreed to convene the sixth Bilateral Consultation Forum in Serbia, with the date yet to be announced.
